Aggravation
Players:
- Can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players or 2 teams of 2.
Object of the Game:
- To successfully get all your pawns and your teammate’s pawns (player opposite you) into the Home.
How to get Started: (4 player version)
- Place the 4 matching pawns on each corresponding Base.
- Players then each roll one dice. Highest number goes first.
- On a player’s turn, you start by rolling both dice.
- You must have a 1 or 6 to get out the Base. When a 1 or 6 is played, the player moves one pawn from the Base to their Start. Moving to the Start is considered 1 turn and it is the next player to the left’s turn, unless a 6 is rolled and the player can roll again.
- Once a pawn is on the Start, after rolling and adding up the total of both dice, the player may place a pawn on a corresponding space with the same number moving clockwise around the table.
- If a player can not play (not on the Start), their turn is over.
- Continue around the board so all players are moving the pawns to their Home.
- Landing on an opponent’s occupied space is considered an “Aggravation”. This will send the opponent’s pawn back to their Base. A player’s pawn may not be Aggravated if it is on the player’s Start, as these are safe from Aggravation. You must land on the space before or after your opponent. Otherwise, you can not move your pawn to that occupied spot.
Rules:
- You cannot jump over your own pawn (even in the Home).
- If you can not play, but you have rolled a 6, the player can roll again.
- If you can not play and did not roll a 6, your turn is over and it is the player to the left’s turn.
- When all your pawns are in your Home, the player opposite you becomes your partner, the team to get all their Pawns in the home first, wins the game
Optional Rule:
- The hole in the center of the game table is know as the “Center Short Cut”. On the inside corners of the table, a player has the option to enter the Center Short Cut or continue around the table. A player who has an exact count and is able to enter the Center Short Cut, may do so and it is the next player’s turn. Once a player is in the Center Short Cut, the only way out is by rolling a 1 and may diagonally cut across to the other side of the table. If the Center Short Cut is occupied, another player may Aggravate the occupied pawn, sending it back to their Base.
